How it started
OUR Story
The brand Simonia’s is founded by Joao Cardozo along with his late mother Simonia Ritinha Cardozo in the year 1963. The business started as St. Francis Bakery named after the patron Saint of Goa St. Francis Xavier.
After starting his career in the New Persian bakery in Bombay as a bakery helper to mastering the skills of baking at Bastani bakery, Joao Cardozo then headed back to Goa to establish his own bakery.
The Bakery was set up in Saipem in the year 1963 with production starting 1st Jan 1964. Initially, the production was done 4 days a week with 2 days reserved for the supply of baked goods all across Goa. With the growing business, the first store was opened at the Mapusa market.
Goan delicacies were added later which propelled the business to the next level and helped to establish the brand Simonia’s for authentic Goan sweets.
With a presence in Mapusa, Candolim, Porvorim, and the production unit based at Saipem, Simonia’s is now poised to take the business to the next frontier with its online presence.
